If you're looking for a service in English in Porto, maybe you're looking for more than a schedule. Maybe you want to find a community where you can understand, take part and feel welcomed.
At Surf Church Porto, Portuguese and English are part of the same experience. Language doesn't exist to separate people. It exists to serve people.
A shared experience
Surf Church Porto is a PT/EN Christian community in Matosinhos. This means locals and internationals take part in the same life: worship, table, Bible, prayer, Havruta, service and next steps.
We don't run two communities. We are one single family, gathered by Jesus.
What happens when you arrive
If it's your first time, the Welcome team can help you understand where to go in, where to sit, how the language works and what the next step is after the gathering. You can also write before coming and say whether you'd rather be welcomed in Portuguese or English.
You don't need to know anyone. You don't need to look religious. You don't need to know all the songs or all the moments. You can simply arrive.
Useful information for your first visit
Dress, children and arrival
Come in comfortable clothes. Surf Church culture is simple and down-to-earth, but the point isn't style. The point is that you can arrive as you are.
If you come with children, Surf Church Porto Kids is available for all ages. We recommend sending a message before your first visit so the team can guide the family's arrival with more care.
What you'll find in the service
A community that speaks Portuguese and English without separating people.
Worship and the Bible with Jesus at the center.
Real people, not an atmosphere of religious performance.
Table, conversation and the chance to build relationships.
Next steps such as Havruta, courses, service and community.
The service doesn't end when the meeting is over
For Surf Church Porto, faith doesn't stay stuck on Sunday. The message needs to reach Monday. The table, the conversations, Havruta and service help turn what we hear into practice.
